Looking Back
Looking Back
As I look out my window on this fine snowy Saturday morning, I thank the good Lord He saved the white stuff for this weekend & spared us of its beauty & slickness on Sunday January 31st- the day of our first pancake breakfast held at Taylor High School.
The breakfast is now over a week in our wake & the dust has settled along with our frantic yet delightful & fun efforts that saw our fund raiser through. The breakfast was deemed a success!
As you may or may not know, this breakfast fund raiser came about by a mere suggestion at our August business meeting. Actually, the suggestion was more like a question- "what can we do to help the Right to Life Program? Ideas were thrown out & thus the breakfast was born. A week later, a committee was formed, and well the rest is history.
It was decided that the money raised from the breakfast would benefit Pregnancy Center West to "purchase a truck load of diapers". That was our mantra " a truck load of diapers". The Center will use the money for diapers as well as other items that are needed for the mothers who have chosen life for their babies.
Our fine hard working committee consisted of 12, members of both our KofC Council #11550 & the Ladies Auxiliary. The committee laid the ground work & the plan was put into motion. Fifty seven ads were sold to local businesses for placemat advertising & another 19 businesses donated needed supplies from plates to sausage. Thanks to the business community our cost was minimal.
Last Sunday 52 volunteers showed up to prepare & serve nearly close to 400 patrons. Also between the two Jim's ( Bell & Bischoff) six new members were signed up. The breakfast was an incredible effort , one of which we can be proud. Through our efforts, $2,863.52 was netted for Pregnancy Center West. Hopefully that figure will be $3,000.00 when we present a check to Joanie Luebker, Director of PCW. The presentation will take place on March 23rd at our Social held in the Hospitality Room of St. Joseph Church.
Thanks to all who helped make this pancake breakfast such a success. To all the Knights, the Ladies Auxiliary, the youth of St. Joe's & the wonderful ladies at Taylor High School-what a team!
Sincerely,
Dan Warnock
