Our Lady of Visitation’s Parish Picnic
We had several members from our council man the grills at Our Lady of Visitation’s Parish picnic which was held at Stricker's Grove. It went very smoothly, although we may have a little less hair on our arms! Jim Bischoff chaired this activity and did a great job. For the brats, metts, hot dogs and burgers, we used JTM’s trailer grills and they proved to be very handy, efficient and speedy. A special thanks goes out to our grillmasters and runners: Jim Bischoff, Maryann and Bob Schmidt, JoAnn and Dan Warnock, Josh Hardig, Gary Beckemeyer, Steve Duebber, Ken Gardner, Bob Merten and Casey McMahon.
District Award!
Our council for the second year in a row has been awarded the Double Star award from Supreme Council for overall achievement in membership, recruitment, retention, insurance promotion and Surge with Service programming. Plus reaching 200% of the council’s membership quota. This is a great honor and great achievement we can all be proud of!
The 6th Annual Bill Dehmer Memorial Scholarship
St.Joseph of the Three Rivers Knights of Columbus Council has recently awarded two 8th grade students scholarships to attend Catholic High Schools.
The 6th Annual Bill Dehmer Memorial Scholarship is supported through various fund raisers held by St. Joseph K of C, most notably their Lenten Fish Fry.
The St. Joseph K of C scholarship committee chose the winners from essays submitted from 5 local parishes to determine the winners of a $1,000 and $500 scholarship.
This year’s $1,000 winner is Alison Bailey from Our Lady of Visitation School.
Holly Rack who attended St. Bernard school was awarded $500.
Each will be able to direct the money to the Catholic high school of their choice.
Congratulations to these two bright and promising young ladies!
Council Family Picnic
St. Joseph K of C held their annual picnic Tuesday evening at Fernbank Park on the Ohio. We had close to 100 folks attend the gala, the youngest of whom was Fran and Lester Wilson’s new one month old grandson, Shane.
After a mild threat of rain, 25 drops in all, we had a very fun filled event with plenty of picnic style foods, deserts, good conversation with family and friends, and of course, corn hole and horse shoes.

A special thanks goes out to our illustrious chef, Bob Nieporte for his distinct homemade hamburgers,... for manning the grill, along with Al Davis, and also for coordinating much of this event as our Council Director. Also a special thanks to Queen City Meats who donated all the metts, brats and hot dogs.
It always takes a team effort to make such an affair a success. You guys and your wives all deserve a pat on the back for all you have contributed in making our picnic such a pleasurable gathering. Lastly, I would like to mention the fact that Gardner and Warnock, while partners, have never been beaten in corn hole! My hat size just grew by another inch.
Thanks again to all, and lets make next years picnic an even bigger and better celebration with the St. Joseph of the Three Rivers Knights of Columbus.
Sincerely Yours,
Dan Warnock Program Director/PGK

Our second annual Fish Fry has concluded as of last night, eight fry’s in all this year. This is a huge undertaking and a special thanks goes out to Jim Bischoff who chaired, managed, bossed, and directed this show. Well done Jim,...super job.
Over 30 brother Knights worked the fish fry, helping to make it run like a well oiled machine. The Ladies Auxiliary were also supportive in roles as order takers, and kitchen help. Their bakery goods/deserts sales profited them a little over $1000. A great success!
We finished the fry on a good note this year. Last year's Good Friday sales (on a rainy day) was $700. Last night we took in $1300. The 2009 Fish Fry we profited a little over $5,000 total. The final numbers are yet to be crunched for the 2010 total. Stay tuned.
Thanks to all who helped make this year's Fish Fry such a huge achievement. It’s a testament to how blessed our council here at St. Joe’s really is. Our council is only as strong as the members who support it. Quite possibly strong enough to win another “Double Star Award”! Job well done guys.

St. Joseph of the Three Rivers Knights of Columbus 15th Anniversary Celebration
Sunday March 21st, members of St. Joseph of the Three Rivers Knights of Columbus celebrated their 15th Anniversary. Our observance began with brother Knights and family members attending the 11:00 Mass at St. Joseph Church. Fr. Mike presided over Mass along with Fr. Marty as concelebrant. At the end of Mass, Fr. Mike had the Knights stand and said a prayed over the men.
Following Mass, we met at Kennings Circle K for a luncheon. Council Director Bob Nieporte, and chairman of this celebration did a wonderful job organizing and emceeing the luncheon. He explained the meaning of the K of C Third Degree emblem, and addressed our councils history and growth over the years. Most of all, he made us aware and reminded us of our noble cause and all the good works our council has done the last 15 years. Then he challenged us in the next 15 years to come. Bob did keep it pithy, even when asking Fr. Harry to please give us “the short version” of his invocation before food was served.
Fr. Mike also addressed the attendees and expressed his gratitude for all the council has done in contributing to the well being of the parish. Fr. Harry, District Deputy Mike Felerski and Grand Knight Tony Pagano also addressed those in attendance. Tony did rebut the (false) claim that he never does any hard work at council functions. Please see link to photos to prove otherwise.
May we stand tall in his challenge to keep on course the next 15 years. Like DD Mike Felerski said, “it’s not easy for a council to win a Double Star Award.” Are we up for the task? We shall see.
